Tom Ringley , a resident of Big Horn, announced today that he intends to seek election to one of the two new positions on the Sheridan County Board of County Commissioners.

Ringley, who has formed a campaign committee, and is a registered Republican, will file for the August primary election in the May filing period.

Ringley has been a resident of Big Horn since he finished his twenty-seven year military career in 1990. He was mostly raised in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School and Sheridan College. He went on to completed his bachelor’s degree at the George Washington University and earn a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery.

During the past eighteen years, Ringley has been active on numerous volunteer boards including the Dog and Cat Shelter and the Center for a Vital Community. He is currently a board member of the Sheridan County Historical Society and the Sheridan Wyo Rodeo.

Ringley has also worked for Sheridan County as the Emergency Management Coordinator and the Facilities Director at the Fairgrounds. He is currently the Executive Director of the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation. Ringley has indicated that if he is elected he will resign his position with the Foundation.

Ringley stated that he is running for the office because he believes he is the right person at the right time. He stated: “Over the last eighteen years I have been an active and productive member of the community in some challenging positions and on a diverse number of voluntary boards. In all of them I demonstrated sound and sensible leadership and management.”

Ringley went on to state that, “My experience in many sectors of the community has given me a solid understanding of Sheridan County. It seems an appropriate time for me to put my knowledge and experience to good use by serving as a county commissioner.”
